Baking soda – properties and use
Baking soda, in other words, sodium bicarbonate, occurs in mineral deposits, freshwater sediments, groundwater and in the human body, in which it is responsible for maintaining the proper level of acidity (pH) in the bloodstream.
It is used as a means of soothing skin burns and irritations and as a component of face masks and scrubs. It can be used to cleanse the face of dirt, grease, cosmetics and dead skin cells. It should be avoided by people with dry and sensitive skin, because the baking soda can dry out the skin and thus cause irritation. For this reason, before applying homemade cosmetics with baking soda, try out the product on the wrist or on the skin behind the ear.
